On behalf of our crew (of two), we are happy to announce the addition of Jay to our meeple-loving gang.

Jay brings many years of beating us at various CCGs, be it Magic or Overpower or Alien Vs Predators or... We even moved game nights to evenings when he has work, for fear of losing to him some more.

Suffice to say, Jay has been assisting us at several of our past events, and we are delighted to bring him on, in an official capacity, to help move forward with WoodForSheep's growth and development. (Wait, why am I still carrying the boxes around?)

WoodForSheep is continuing our collaboration with Power Unit Youth Organization (PUYO) to raise funds at Night It Up!.

For one day only, Saturday, July 25 (from 2PM to midnight), WoodForSheep and PUYO will be opening a pop-up board game cafe right on the Night It Up grounds! Play a game for $2 and have a chance to win great prizes. Part of the proceeds will go towards Yellow Brick House, a local shelter for survivors of abuse.

WoodForSheep is teaming up with Power Unit Youth Organization and Chatime Willowdale to raise funds for Yellow Brick House .

On June 16, 23, 30 and July 7, between 9:00pm to midnight, Chatime Willowdale will transform into a board game cafe. Come grab a drink and join us for a fun night with friends!

WoodForSheep will be at the following 2015 conventions this spring (and a few seasons after):

Gaming in Markham (GIM) Nights - every Wednesday

Overcome the mid-week blues by getting your game on! Come out and join us for fun with friends. Drop by Utopia Dream Cafe between 7PM to 11PM. As a courtesy to the location for allowing us use of their space, each attendee is encouraged to purchase a menu item.

And Beyond

If you don't have any plans yet for October 2015, you may want to book off October 23 to 25 for CastleCon; you may run into your friendly neighbourhood, board game retail crew. (meaning us, WoodForSheep :P )

Do you have what it takes to beat the sheep? In celebration of the arrival of the year of the Wood Sheep, join WoodForSheep for a day of fun and games. Put your mettle and wits up against Steve or Nate (who are both year of the Sheep kids). If you emerge victorious, you go home with a prize. Even if you weren't so successful, you'll still have a chance to go home with a game as there will be prize draws throughout the day (but you have to be there to claim the prize).

Other tables will also be available for open gaming.

Registration for spots will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, as we open on that day. If a person is not present for a game they registered for at the appointed time, WoodForSheep reserves the right to award the spot to another attendee that is present. If a game has more available spots, they will be made available to other attendees. If a game has no challengers, WoodForSheep reserves the right to change the game listed. Challengers are expected to be familiar with the game rules of the game(s) they are participating in. Due to time restrictions, there will be minimal rule reviews for Beat the Sheep games.

It seems we missed out on celebrating our anniversary (we're certainly humbled that WoodForSheep continues to serve for 4 years now). We totally glazed over Black Friday (you mean it has nothing to do with the stock market). We may as well throw in a little Boxing Day too, as we check off the last item from our list of things to do in 2014 (remember this one?). ;)

WoodForSheep is pleased to partner with the Gibson Centre to host a board game, fundraising event in support of Extra-Life.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Sick Kids, a local member of the Children’s Miracle Network.

Join us for an afternoon of games and adventures hosted by our friends at De Code Adventures. Feel free to bring a game to share, or try one from the De Code tabletop library. WoodForSheep will also be bringing titles from our collection. In support of the location, participants are encouraged to make a purchase from their snack shop, or try one of De Code's challenging escape rooms.

WoodForSheep will also be running a free qualifier round for the 12 Seasons Tournament starting at 3PM.

Tournament details:

• Limited spaces available (16)
• Participants must be at least 18 years old
• Rounds are 1-on-1 duels, lasting 40 minutes
• Number of rounds will depend on number of participants
• All participants will receive 2 copies of alternate art Air Elemental
• Winner and finalist will receive 2 copies of alternate art Crystalline Colossus
